Restore the full power of your Opel Astra 1.7 CDTI
Behind the wheel of an Opel Astra fitted with the 1.7 CDTI, a turbo in good condition makes itself felt immediately: crisp throttle response, smooth power delivery without hesitation, and no smoke under acceleration. When boost pressure drops off, the engine loses punch at low revs, the car feels restricted, and diesel consumption rises noticeably. Fitting a new turbo compatible with the VIFC reference restores the driving feel that this diesel engine is capable of delivering in the Astra.
Compatibility with Astra 1.7 CDTI engines
This new turbo is compatible with the VIFC reference fitted to the Opel Astra on the 1.7 CDTI 110 hp and 1.7 CDTI 125 hp engines, with an engine capacity of 1686 cm³. The engine codes covered are A 17 DTJ, A 17 DTR, Z 17 DTJ, Z 17 DTR, Z 17 DTH and Z 17 DT. Before placing an order, we recommend checking the exact reference printed on your old turbo or on the engine plate, as certain engine variants share closely related components.
Exchange basis and warranty for your Astra
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of your old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Astra is not left off the road during the process. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment for your order can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice before fitting on the 1.7 CDTI
On this diesel engine, turbo failure most commonly results from insufficient lubrication caused by unsuitable oil quality or missed oil changes, a clogged air filter, or a leak on the intercooler allowing contaminants to enter. Before fitting the new turbo, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses, and the cleanliness of the air intake to prevent another premature failure. When starting up, prime the turbo with oil before the first engine start, then drive gently for the first few kilometres to allow the turbo to bed in.
