Signs of a worn turbo on your Renault Clio 1.2 TCe

On the Renault Clio fitted with the 1.2 TCe petrol engine, a turbo nearing the end of its life often makes itself known through a loss of power under acceleration, an unusual whistling noise under the bonnet, blue or black smoke from the exhaust, or an engine warning light on the dashboard. Excessive oil consumption or sluggish performance – particularly when pulling away – should also raise the alarm. These symptoms generally point to worn bearings, excessive shaft play, or an oil leak at the turbocharger.

A new turbo designed for the Clio 1.2 TCe

This new turbo is offered for the Renault Clio with the 1.2 TCe 120 CV petrol engine, displacing 1197 cm³. It is compatible with engine codes H5F 403, H5F 404, H5F 405, H5F 408 and H5F 412. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the reference printed on the old turbo to ensure perfect compatibility with your vehicle.

Exchange basis and warranty for this Clio turbo

This turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Clio is never left off the road unnecessarily. The new turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.

Advice before and after fitting

Before fitting the new turbo to your Clio, check the condition of the oil circuit, ensure the hoses are clean, and confirm there are no blockages at the air intake or intercooler. Using quality engine oil, changed at the recommended intervals, along with a clean air filter, significantly reduces the risk of premature failure. When starting up for the first time, remember to prime the oil circuit before the initial start to protect the turbo bearings from the very first engine revolutions.
