A new turbo to restore performance to your Opel Astra 1.7 CDTI
On an Opel Astra fitted with the 1.7 CDTI engine, a turbo in good condition makes an immediate difference behind the wheel: throttle response becomes crisp again at low revs, the engine no longer feels flat pulling out of roundabouts or on the motorway, and black smoke under acceleration disappears. A new turbo compatible with reference 789533-5020S lets you recover that performance and avoid the jerky behaviour from an automatic gearbox caused by unstable boost pressure.
Compatibility with the Opel Astra 1.7 CDTI
This new turbo is compatible with reference 789533-5020S, intended for Opel Astra models fitted with the 1.7 CDTI / CDTI ecoFLEX engine — a 1686 cm³ diesel found under the engine codes A17DTS, A17DTC, A17DTE, A17DTF, A17DTJ, A17DTL or A17DTN depending on the variant. Before placing an order, it is advisable to check the reference shown on the old turbo's identification plate as well as the engine code on the vehicle, to ensure exact compatibility with your Astra.
Exchange basis and warranty on this Astra turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Astra is not left off the road. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Causes of failure and fitting advice for the 1.7 CDTI
On this engine, turbo lifespan is heavily dependent on the quality and frequency of oil changes, as well as the condition of the air filter: a blocked filter accelerates wear on the shaft and bearings. A split intercooler hose or a poorly secured air intake can also cause the turbine to overspeed. Before fitting, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses and that there are no air leaks on the intake. When starting up, remember to prime the turbo with clean oil before the first start, to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings.
