Why does the turbo fail on the Peugeot 307 2.0 HDi 90?

On the Peugeot 307 fitted with the DW10TD engine (code RHY), the turbocharger is subjected to significant thermal and mechanical stress, particularly during repeated short journeys where the oil never reaches its optimum temperature. Insufficient lubrication, degraded or overdue engine oil, a clogged air filter or a damaged intercooler are among the most common causes of premature failure on this diesel unit. Revving the engine hard immediately after a cold start, without allowing a warm-up period, also accelerates wear on the turbo bearings.

Compatibility of the reconditioned turbo with the 307 2.0 HDi 90

This reconditioned turbo is compatible with reference VVP1, intended for the Peugeot 307 with the 2.0 HDi 90 engine, the DW10TD identified by engine code RHY. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the reference marked on your old turbo or on the vehicle's identification plate, to ensure perfect compatibility with your engine.

Fitting advice for the DW10TD

Before fitting this reconditioned turbo to your 307 2.0 HDi 90, check the oil circuit (feed and return hoses), the condition of the air lines and the cleanliness of the air intake upstream of the turbo. Priming the turbo with oil before the first start-up ensures the bearings are properly lubricated and prevents immediate damage. Remember also to replace the oil filter and inspect the intercooler to guarantee the longevity of the new unit.
