206 HDi: same engine capacity, different engine codes — two turbos that are not interchangeable

The engine code stamped on the block is the only reliable reference for ordering the correct turbo for a Peugeot 206 HDi. The DW10TD and the RHY cover the 2.0 HDi versions (90 and 110 hp): two power outputs, two distinct turbo maps, and OEM references with no overlap between them. On the 1.6 HDi side, the dividing line falls between the DV6ATED4 / 9HY (75 and 90 hp) and the DV6UTED4 / 9HZ (110 hp): same engine capacity, shared DV6 family, but different variable geometry and actuator — the turbos carry references such as 49173-07500 or 49173-07503 for the 75/90 hp versions, versus 753420-5006S for the 110 hp, and none of them are interchangeable. Symptoms and causes of turbo failure on 206 HDi engines

On both the 2.0 HDi and the variable-geometry 1.6 HDi engines, turbo failures typically present as a high-pitched whine, blue smoke from the exhaust, or a sharp drop in power accompanied by the vehicle entering limp mode. The variable-geometry turbos on the DV6UTED4 are particularly prone to clogging of the movable vanes, often as a result of delayed oil changes or a blocked DPF forcing soot back into the circuit. On the DW10TD and RHY blocks, bearing failures are frequently linked to lubrication surges — worn turbo seals or oil starvation at start-up. In every case, fitting a new turbo without first eliminating the root cause (fouling, air leak, degraded oil) will inevitably lead to another failure. All turbos offered in this collection are new.
