The new turbo built for your Audi A3 1.9 TDI 90 ch
The first-generation Audi A3 1.9 TDI 90 ch (8L1) earned a strong following as a versatile compact, equally at home on daily urban runs and longer road journeys. This kind of mixed use — with frequent heat cycles and extended idling in town — places particular strain on the turbocharger, especially its shaft and oil-lubricated bearings. A new turbo compatible with reference 454159-5002S restores the original boost pressure and eliminates the power loss or characteristic smoke that comes with a worn turbo.
Compatibility with the A3 1.9 TDI engines
This new turbo is compatible with the 1.9 TDI 90 ch engine fitted to Audi A3 (8L1) units identified by engine codes AGR and ALH. Before ordering, we strongly recommend checking the reference on your old turbo or on the engine plate, as commercial designations can cover several technical variants depending on the year of manufacture and vehicle specification.
Exchange basis and warranty for your A3
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new unit has been delivered and fitted, so your A3 is never left off the road. The turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over up to 10 instalments.
Fitting and maintenance advice for the AGR/ALH engine
On these 1.9 TDI engines, insufficient lubrication or oil degraded by infrequent oil changes are among the leading causes of premature turbo failure. A clogged air filter or a damaged intercooler can also disrupt the system. Before fitting, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses and the air intake, then prime the turbo with oil on first start-up to ensure immediate bearing lubrication. Avoiding hard acceleration from cold also helps extend the life of the new turbo.
