What a new turbo does for your Renault Clio 1.5 dCi 65
On a Renault Clio fitted with the 1.5 dCi 65 engine, a turbo in good condition makes itself felt from the very first kilometres: throttle response becomes smooth and linear again, the engine regains its low-rev torque without hesitation, smoke on acceleration disappears and fuel consumption stabilises. By contrast, a worn turbo typically shows itself through an unusual whistling noise, a gradual loss of power, an engine warning light, or blue or black exhaust smoke. Fitting a new turbo compatible with reference 021TM17032000 restores the original performance of this widely used small diesel engine in the Clio.
Compatibility with the Clio 1.5 dCi engine
This new turbo is compatible with the 1.5 dCi 65 engine fitted to the Renault Clio, identifiable by engine codes K9K 700 and K9K 704, with an engine capacity of 1461 cm3 in Diesel. Before placing any order, always check the reference printed on the old turbo or on your vehicle's engine plate, as certain variants of the K9K block used different turbos depending on the version and market.
Exchange basis and warranty
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Clio is not left off the road. The part comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice before and during fitting
On a 1.5 dCi, turbo longevity depends greatly on lubrication: using the correct grade of quality oil and keeping to the service intervals limits bearing contamination. Also check the condition of the air filter, intercooler and intake hoses before fitting the new part, as a blocked air intake or a leak will accelerate wear. Flush and check the oil circuit, then prime the turbo with oil before the first start-up to ensure the bearings are lubricated immediately when the engine fires.
