A new turbo built for everyday use in the BMW Série 1
The BMW Série 1 in 120i or 125i form is prized for its driving pleasure, whether tackling regular urban commutes or more demanding road journeys. This varied use – switching between sharp acceleration and city idling – puts considerable strain on the turbocharger, particularly during repeated hard acceleration. Fitting a new turbo restores the original performance and prevents the power loss that comes with a worn unit.
Compatibility with Série 1 petrol engines
This new turbo is compatible with reference 49477-02407 and fits the 120i and 125i petrol engines equipped with engine codes B48B20A and B48B20B, with an engine capacity of 1998 cm³. Before placing an order, we recommend checking the reference printed on the casing of your old turbo to ensure a perfect match with your vehicle.
Exchange basis and warranty on this new turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required; however, it is only collected after the new unit has been delivered and fitted, so your BMW Série 1 is never left off the road. This new turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Common causes of failure and fitting advice
On B48B20A and B48B20B engines, turbo longevity depends greatly on the quality and frequency of engine oil changes, as well as the condition of the air filter and intercooler. Pushing the engine hard when cold, or switching it off abruptly after intensive use, can also accelerate turbocharger wear.
Before fitting the new turbo, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses and the cleanliness of the air intake to prevent premature contamination. When starting up for the first time, pre-lubricating the turbo with oil is recommended to ensure the bearings are immediately lubricated on first start.
