A new turbo designed for the BMW Série 3 320i and 330i
Whether used for daily commutes, long motorway journeys or more spirited driving, the BMW Série 3 places considerable demands on its petrol turbocharger in 320i and 330i form. Repeated boost cycles, sharp acceleration and short urban trips all accelerate turbo wear if maintenance is not kept up to scratch. This new turbo, compatible with reference 49477-02407, is designed to restore the original performance of your 2.0-litre petrol engine.
Compatibility with Série 3 engines
This new turbo is compatible with the 2.0-litre petrol engines fitted to the BMW Série 3 (320i, 330i, 330e) with engine codes B48B20A, B48B20B or B46B20B, across the F30, F31 and F34 generations. Before placing an order, we strongly recommend checking the reference printed on your old turbo's identification plate to confirm exact compatibility with your vehicle.
Exchange basis and warranty
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of your old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted to your Série 3, so your vehicle is not left off the road unnecessarily. The turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional.
Common symptoms and causes of failure on the B48 engine
On B48 engines fitted to the Série 3, a loss of power under acceleration, unusual exhaust smoke or an abnormal whistling noise may indicate turbo failure. The most common causes are insufficient lubrication, poor-quality engine oil or oil that has not been changed at the recommended intervals, a clogged air filter, or an intercooler seal leak. Revving the engine too hard immediately after a cold start also places additional strain on the turbocharger.
Advice before and during fitting
- Check the condition of the oil circuit and clean the hoses before fitting the new turbo.
- Inspect the air intake and ensure there are no foreign objects in the induction system.
- Prime the turbo with oil before starting the engine for the first time.
- Carry out a full oil change using an oil suited to the B48 engine.
You can pay for your order in instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
