Signs of a worn turbo on a Citroën C4 2.0 HDi
On the Citroën C4 fitted with the 2.0 HDi engine, a turbo nearing the end of its life typically shows up as a noticeable loss of power under acceleration, an unusual whistling noise from the intake side, an engine warning light on the dashboard, or exhaust smoke that is thicker than normal. On this diesel engine, widely used in everyday road driving, these symptoms frequently point to excessive play within the turbo or an air-circuit leak, and should prompt a prompt inspection of the turbocharger before the fault worsens.
Compatible turbo for the Citroën C4
This new turbo is designed to fit the Citroën C4 with the 2.0 HDi engine, a diesel configuration valued for its torque both on the road and in daily use. It is compatible with the main reference 806497-5003S as well as the equivalent references listed on this page, whether these are manufacturer part numbers or turbo-supplier references.
Engine compatibility
Technical research confirms compatibility with the 2.0 HDi 150 and 2.0 HDi 163 engines in the Citroën C4, associated in particular with engine codes RHC, RHE and RHH (DW10CTED4), for an engine capacity of 1997 cm3. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the exact reference printed on the old turbo removed from the vehicle, as commercial designations can vary depending on the version and year of production.
Exchange basis and warranty
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so that your vehicle is not left off the road. The part is covered by a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice before and after fitting
On a 2.0 HDi engine, the main cause of premature turbo failure is poor lubrication: incorrect-grade oil, missed oil changes, or a clogged oil filter all accelerate bearing wear. A blocked air filter or a cracked intercooler can also lead to contamination and overheating of the turbo. Before fitting the new turbo, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses, and the cleanliness of the air intake, then prime the turbo with oil before the first start-up to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings.
