The right turbo for the Ford S-Max 1.8 TDCi
The Ford S-Max is a large MPV frequently used for family and business journeys combining motorway driving, town use and heavy loads (passengers, luggage, towing). This kind of use puts the turbocharger under considerable strain, particularly during sustained full-load acceleration or repeated high-rev motorway runs. On this model, the new turbo compatible with reference 742110-5007S is designed to restore the original boost pressure and bring the 1.8 TDCi diesel engine back to its expected performance.
Compatibility with S-Max engines
This new turbo is compatible with the Ford S-Max 1.8 TDCi (100 hp and 125 hp), identified by engine codes FFWA and QYWA. Before placing an order, it is essential to check the exact reference on the old turbo or on the engine plate, as several turbo variants may have been fitted depending on the trim level and production period of the vehicle.
Exchange and warranty for your S-Max
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so the vehicle is not left off the road. The part comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice before fitting on the 1.8 TDCi
On this engine, turbo failure is often caused by insufficient lubrication (low oil level, missed oil changes, incorrect oil grade) or by a blocked air filter and intercooler, which disrupts intake pressure. Driving with sudden high-rev bursts followed by immediately switching off the engine, without allowing a cooling-down period, also accelerates wear to the shaft and bearings. Before fitting the new turbo, it is recommended to check the oil circuit (hoses, return pipe), the condition of the intercooler and air intake, and the cleanliness of the intake system. On first start-up, pre-priming the turbo with oil is advised to ensure immediate lubrication at start-up and to protect the longevity of the part.
