Symptoms of a failing turbo on a Renault Espace 4 2.0 dCi
On the Renault Espace 4 fitted with the 2.0 dCi engine, a turbo nearing the end of its life often makes itself known through a noticeable loss of power under acceleration, an unusual whistling noise as the revs rise, or abnormal exhaust smoke – blue or black. Excessive oil consumption, an engine warning light, or axial play in the turbine are further warning signs that should not be ignored on this family MPV, which is frequently driven on motorways under heavy load. Ignoring these symptoms puts the M9R engine at risk of far more costly damage, particularly if metal particles begin circulating through the oil circuit.
About the turbo for the Renault Espace 4
This new turbo is compatible with reference 765015-5006S, a part dedicated to the 2.0 dCi versions of the Renault Espace 4. It is designed to restore the boost pressure specified by the manufacturer and return the vehicle to its original performance levels, whether for regular road use or the long-distance journeys typical of this model.
Engine compatibility on the Espace 4
This turbo is compatible with the 2.0 dCi engines fitted to the Renault Espace 4, covering the 131, 150 and 173 hp outputs associated with various variants of the M9R engine. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the reference number stamped on the old turbo as well as the engine code shown on the identification plate, as certain internal variants may differ depending on the vehicle's date of manufacture.
Exchange basis and warranty
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new unit has been delivered and fitted, so your vehicle is never left off the road unnecessarily. The part comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional.
Fitting advice for the M9R engine
Before installation, it is essential to check the oil circuit (pressure, cleanliness, and absence of blockages), the condition of the boost hoses, and the air intake upstream of the turbo – in particular the air filter and intercooler, which are frequently implicated in premature failures on this engine. An oil change using a suitable, high-quality oil, carried out at the correct intervals, will limit bearing wear. When starting the engine for the first time after fitting, it is recommended to prime the turbo with oil before the initial start-up to ensure immediate lubrication of all components. You can pay for your order in instalments – in up to 10 instalments.
