Signs of a worn turbo on your SEAT Ibiza 1.9 TDI 100
On the SEAT Ibiza fitted with the 1.9 TDI 100 unit, a turbocharger nearing the end of its life typically makes itself known through a loss of power under acceleration, an unusual whistling noise from the engine bay, persistent blue or black exhaust smoke, and abnormal oil consumption. An illuminated engine warning light or unstable boost pressure should also put the driver on alert, as should hesitation at low revs. These symptoms, common on ATD, AXR and BMT engines, generally point to worn bearings, excessive shaft play, or a blocked boost system.
Compatibility of the new turbo with the SEAT Ibiza
This new turbo is compatible with reference 54399880003, intended for SEAT Ibiza models powered by the 1.9 TDI 100, engine codes ATD, AXR and BMT. Before placing an order, we strongly recommend checking the reference number on the old turbo as well as the engine code on the block, to ensure perfect compatibility with your vehicle.
Exchange basis and warranty for this turbo
This turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your SEAT Ibiza is not left off the road. The new turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Fitting advice to protect your new turbo
Before fitting the turbo to your 1.9 TDI, carefully inspect the oil circuit, the intake hoses and the air intake: a foreign body or residual used oil can quickly damage the new part. Also check the condition of the air filter and intercooler, which are often responsible for premature turbo failure on this engine. Use a good-quality oil suited to the application and stick to the recommended service intervals, as insufficient lubrication remains the leading cause of failure. On first start-up, remember to prime the turbo with oil before starting the engine, then drive gently for the first few kilometres to allow the bearings to bed in properly.
