Identifying the correct turbo reference for your Golf 1.6 TDI

Before placing any order, it is essential to check the exact reference printed on your Volkswagen Golf's original turbo. This new turbo is compatible with reference 847671-5004S, as well as several equivalent OEM and manufacturer references listed on this page. A visual check of the identification plate on your original turbo will help you avoid any compatibility errors before purchasing.

Engine variants covered on the Golf

This new turbo fits the Volkswagen Golf across several variants of the 1.6 TDI engine block — a 1598 cm³ diesel unit available in outputs of 90, 105, 110 and 115 hp depending on the version. The engine codes covered include CLHA, CLHB, CRKA, CRKB, CXXA, CXXB, DBKA, DDYA, DDYB, DGDA, DGDB, DGTA, DGTC, DGTD and DGTE. We recommend confirming the engine code shown on your vehicle registration document or on the engine block itself before finalising your order.

Exchange basis and warranty on this Golf turbo

This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old unit is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. The old unit is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted to your Golf, so your vehicle is not left off the road during the work. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional.

Advice before fitting the turbo to your 1.6 TDI

On Golf 1.6 TDI engines, turbo longevity depends heavily on the quality and regularity of oil changes, as well as the condition of the air filter and intercooler. Driving with gradual, progressive rev increases also reduces thermal stress on the turbo. Before fitting, check the oil circuit (feed and return hoses), the air intake, and that there are no residues in the ducts. On first start-up, priming the turbo with oil is recommended to ensure correct lubrication from the very first engine revolutions.

Payment

Payment for your new Golf 1.6 TDI turbo can be spread over several instalments — pay in up to 10 instalments.
