A new turbo to restore full performance to your Audi A3 1.6 TDI
On an Audi A3 fitted with a 1.6 TDI engine, a turbo in good condition makes an immediate difference behind the wheel: throttle response becomes crisp again from low revs, the engine no longer struggles to pull in town or on the open road, and black smoke or power loss under load disappears. This new turbo, compatible with reference 847671-5004S, is designed to restore that performance to 1.6 TDI 105, 110 and 115 hp engines fitted to the Audi A3, in particular those identified by engine codes CLHA, CRKB, CXXB, DBKA and DDYA.
Compatibility with your Audi A3
Before placing an order, it is essential to check that the reference stamped on your old turbo matches the one shown here, or one of the equivalent references listed on this page. This check ensures a trouble-free fit on your 1.6 TDI.
Exchange basis and warranty on this turbo for the A3
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of your old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new unit has been delivered and fitted, so your Audi A3 is never left off the road unnecessarily. It comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Common causes of turbo failure on the 1.6 TDI and fitting advice
On these 1.6 TDI engines, the majority of turbo failures stem from inadequate lubrication: incorrect oil grade, oil changes carried out beyond the recommended intervals, or a clogged oil filter starving the turbo of adequate pressure. A blocked air filter or a cracked intercooler will also disrupt the intake and accelerate wear. Before fitting the new turbo, check the oil circuit (hoses and return line), ensure the air intake is clean, and confirm there are no leaks on the intake side. On first start-up, remember to prime the oil circuit before cranking the engine to protect the bearings from the very first revolutions.
