Signs of a worn turbo on the Volkswagen Lupo 1.4 TDI
On the Lupo 1.4 TDI, a turbo nearing the end of its life often makes itself known through a loss of power under acceleration, blue or black smoke from the exhaust, an unusual whistling noise under the bonnet, or excessive engine oil consumption. An illuminated engine warning light or the vehicle entering limp mode can also point to a boost pressure fault. These symptoms are common on this heavily used three-cylinder diesel engine in urban driving conditions, and should prompt a prompt check of the turbocharger before the problem gets worse.
A new turbo designed for the Volkswagen Lupo 1.4 TDI
This new turbo is compatible with reference 701729-5010S, dedicated to the Volkswagen Lupo fitted with the 1.4 TDI 75 ch engine, engine code AMF. Before placing an order, we recommend checking the reference printed on your old turbo or on the vehicle's identification plate to confirm exact compatibility with your engine.
Exchange and warranty
This turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Lupo is not left off the road. The new turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Tips for looking after your new turbo
On the AMF engine, turbo reliability depends heavily on lubrication: use a good-quality oil suited to your engine and follow the service intervals strictly. A clogged air filter or dirty intake system will accelerate premature turbo wear. Before fitting, check the condition of the oil circuit, hoses and air intake to avoid contaminating the new turbo. When starting up for the first time, prime the turbo with oil before the initial start, and drive gently for the first few kilometres to allow it to bed in properly.
