It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your V40 is never left off the road. The turbo is covered by a 12-month parts warranty, provided fitting is carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over up to 10 instalments.

On this turbocharged petrol engine, the majority of premature turbo failures stem from insufficient lubrication, poor-quality engine oil or missed oil changes, as well as a clogged air filter allowing contaminants to reach the compressor wheel. Habitually pushing the engine to high revs before the oil has reached its operating temperature also accelerates bearing wear.
Before fitting the new turbo, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses and the cleanliness of the air intake, as well as the intercooler for any leaks or deposits. On start-up, remember to prime the turbo with oil before starting the engine, to ensure the bearings are lubricated immediately from the first revolutions.
