Why does the Mercedes GLC 43 AMG turbo fail?

On the Mercedes GLC 43 AMG fitted with the twin-turbo M276.823 block, the two turbochargers operate at high pressure and high temperature to deliver the power expected from this V6 engine. Insufficient lubrication, low-quality engine oil or missed oil changes are the most common causes of premature bearing wear in the turbo. A clogged air filter or a faulty intercooler can also disrupt the air circuit and accelerate turbine degradation. Hard acceleration followed by an immediate engine cut-off, with no cooling-down period, also puts considerable strain on this type of turbo in a twin-turbo setup.

Compatibility of the new turbo for the Mercedes GLC 43 AMG

This new turbo is compatible with reference 9V120, intended for the GLC 43 AMG 3.0 V6 Biturbo engine, identified by engine code M276.823. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the reference on the old turbo fitted to the vehicle, as the mounting position can vary depending on the side (left or right) on this twin-turbo engine.

Fitting advice for the GLC 43 AMG

Before fitting the new turbo, check the condition of the oil circuit (hoses, fittings and return line) and ensure the air intake is clean, to avoid any premature contamination of the new component. Priming the turbo with oil before the first start-up is essential to ensure immediate bearing lubrication from the moment the engine is running. On this twin-turbo engine, it is also advisable to check the condition of the intercooler and the boost hoses associated with the second turbo, to maintain the balance of the system.
