The new turbo designed for real-world Range Rover use
The Range Rover is a premium SUV frequently used for long motorway journeys, heavily loaded trips (luggage, trailers, towing) and driving that alternates between cruising on the motorway and more demanding conditions in town or light off-road use. This versatility means the turbocharger must operate across a wide range of pressure and temperature, which accelerates wear on the turbine-compressor assembly if maintenance is not kept up to scratch. For this model, we offer a new turbo compatible with reference 829440-5004S, designed to restore the original performance of the 3.0 TDV6/SDV6 engine.
Compatibility with Range Rover engines
This new turbo is compatible with the 3.0 TDV6 and 3.0 SDV6 diesel engines, with an engine capacity of 2993 cm³, identifiable in particular by engine codes 306DT and 306DDTX. Before placing an order, we recommend checking the exact reference printed on your original turbo as well as the engine code shown on the identification plate, as certain versions of the Range Rover may be fitted with different turbos depending on the year of production and the market.
Exchange basis and warranty on this turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Range Rover is not left off the road during the process. The new turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Tips for protecting the turbo on your Range Rover
Premature turbo failure on a TDV6/SDV6 engine is most commonly caused by a lubrication fault, oil of inadequate quality or overdue oil changes, a clogged air filter, or a porous intercooler allowing contaminants through. Driving hard from a cold start also puts premature strain on the turbo shaft.
- Check the oil circuit (pressure, cleanliness, absence of carbon deposits in the passages)
- Inspect the condition of the intake hoses and the air intake before fitting
- Prime the new turbo with oil before starting the engine for the first time
- Allow the engine to idle briefly at start-up and before switching off to protect the bearings
