How a new turbo transforms your Mazda 3
On a Mazda 3 fitted with the 2.2 D engine, a turbo in perfect condition makes itself felt immediately: sharper throttle response, smoother power delivery from low revs, and no smoke or whistling under acceleration. As soon as the turbo starts to wear, the Mazda 3 loses its urgency, struggles to rev freely, and may trigger the engine warning light alongside a noticeable loss of power in everyday driving or on the motorway.
Compatibility with the Mazda 3 and reference check
This new turbo is compatible with reference 810358-5005S, intended for Mazda 3 models fitted with the 2.2 D 150 ch engine (2191 cm³), with engine codes SHY1, SHY4, SHY6 and SHY8. Before placing an order, we strongly recommend checking the reference printed on the old turbo or on the vehicle's identification plate, as certain engine variants may share a similar architecture but carry different references.
Exchange basis and warranty on this Mazda 3 turbo
This turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Mazda 3 is not left off the road unnecessarily. The new turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional.
Advice before fitting on the 2.2 D engine
On this turbocharged diesel engine, turbo longevity depends heavily on the quality and frequency of oil changes, the condition of the air filter, and the cleanliness of the oil circuit. Before fitting, it is advisable to check the condition of the oil hoses, the cleanliness of the air intake, and the absence of deposits in the intercooler, all of which can accelerate wear on a new turbo. On first start-up, priming the turbo with oil is essential to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings and prevent premature seizure. Driving gently during the first few kilometres, avoiding sudden high-rev bursts, also allows the new turbo to bed in correctly on your Mazda 3.
