On OM 607.951 engines fitted to the Classe B, premature turbo failure is most commonly caused by inadequate lubrication: poor-quality oil, infrequent oil changes or a clogged oil filter. A blocked air filter or a damaged intercooler can also cause an air deficit or excess pressure that is harmful to the turbo. Before installing the new turbo, carefully check the oil circuit, the condition of the lubrication hoses, the cleanliness of the air intake and that there are no leaks at the heat exchanger. When starting up for the first time, remember to prime the oil circuit before the initial start to ensure immediate lubrication of the turbo bearings.
