Why does the right-hand turbo fail on a Mercedes Classe E 400?
On the Classe E 400 fitted with the M276 3.0 V6 bi-turbo petrol engine, the right-hand turbocharger is put under particular strain by the high temperatures generated by this twin-turbocharged unit. Insufficient lubrication, low-quality engine oil or oil changes that have been left too long, a clogged air filter, or an intake circuit that is not properly sealed all contribute to premature wear of the bearings and turbine wheel. Aggressive revving immediately after a cold start, without allowing the turbo to stabilise, also accelerates the deterioration of this component on this type of bi-turbo engine.
Compatibility of the new turbo for the Classe E 400
This new turbo is compatible with reference 9V119, dedicated to the right-hand side of the M276 3.0 V6 bi-turbo petrol engine fitted to the Mercedes Classe E 400. Before placing an order, it is recommended that you check the reference marked on the old turbo removed from the vehicle, to ensure an exact match with the original label markings — in particular to distinguish the right-hand side from the left-hand side, as the two turbos are not interchangeable.
Exchange basis and warranty for this Classe E 400 turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so that the vehicle is not left off the road. The product carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Fitting advice for the M276 on the Classe E 400
Before fitting this new turbo, it is essential to check the oil circuit (hoses, return line, sump cleanliness) as well as the condition of the intake hoses and air intake, in order to prevent any contamination of the new component. On first start-up, priming the turbo with oil is recommended to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings before pressure builds up. These checks reduce the risk of early failure on the M276 engine of the Classe E 400.
