Each engine code on the 307 diesel corresponds to a distinct turbo

On the Peugeot 307, the engine output listed in the catalogue is not enough to identify the correct turbo: it is the engine code stamped on the block that determines the exact reference. The 2.0 HDi variants span engine codes RHS, RHY and DW10TD for the 90 hp versions, RHR for the 110 hp, and RHR again for the 136 hp — closely related architectures whose turbos are nonetheless not interchangeable. The 1.6 HDi units carry the codes 9HV, 9HX, 9HY, 9HZ, DV6TED4B and DV6TED4BU, with turbos that again differ according to power output (90, 92 or 110 hp) and block variant.

2.0 HDi: three power outputs, non-interchangeable turbos

The 2.0 HDi 90 (RHS / RHY / DW10TD) was fitted to the early generations of the 307 and uses a fixed-geometry turbo with a wastegate; two types are available here, new or reconditioned. The 2.0 HDi 110 (RHR) and the 2.0 HDi 136 (RHR) use variable-geometry turbos — available as new units only. Despite sharing the RHR engine code, the 110 and 136 do not accept the same turbo: the mapping and CHRA sizing differ. Manufacturer references such as 756047-5006S (110 hp) or 753420-5006S (136 hp) remove any ambiguity.

1.6 HDi: identify the sub-code before ordering

The 1.6 HDi blocks on the 307 account for the greatest number of references: the DV6 family underwent several actuator and variable-geometry revisions depending on the model year and power output. A 9HX and a 9HZ do not share the same turbo, even though the engine capacity is identical. The reference 49173-07503 and its equivalents cover part of this family, but several variants exist (0375J0, 0375K5, 0375N0…). On these engines, the most common causes of failure are lubrication breakdown — oil changes left too long or contaminated oil — and clogging of the variable-geometry actuator, which manifests as a whistling noise, persistent black smoke or the engine going into limp mode. Before any replacement, checking the intake hose seals and the condition of the oil circuit is essential to avoid a rapid recurrence.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

It depends on the reference: each product page states whether the turbo is new or reconditioned, together with the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Peugeot 307 Turbo.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

Yes, the turbo is sold on an exchange basis: you return your old turbo once the new one has been delivered and fitted. We arrange the collection, so you have no logistics to handle.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Peugeot 307 Turbo?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
