The Citroën Berlingo is a versatile vehicle, used just as much for frequent stop-start urban journeys as for carrying loads, occasional towing or long professional runs. This variety of use puts the turbocharger of the 1.5 BlueHDi unit under considerable strain: repeated pressure build-ups, fluctuating loads, extended idling periods followed by sharp acceleration. Over time, these factors can weaken the turbo's internal components if engine maintenance is not kept up to scratch.

Compatibility of the turbo for the Berlingo 1.5 BlueHDi

This new turbo is compatible with reference 853603-5002S, intended for Citroën Berlingo models fitted with the 1.5 BlueHDi 131 diesel engine, engine capacity 1499 cm³, engine code YHZ (DV5RC). Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the reference printed on the old turbo or in the vehicle's technical documentation, as certain power variants may share similar but non-interchangeable components.

Exchange basis and warranty

This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new part has been delivered and fitted, so your Berlingo is not left off the road unnecessarily. It comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.

Advice before and after fitting on your Berlingo

On this type of turbocharged diesel engine, premature turbo failure is most commonly caused by a lubrication fault: incorrect engine oil grade, missed oil changes, a clogged oil filter, or a saturated air filter allowing contaminants to reach the compressor wheel. A cracked intercooler or driving too hard immediately after a cold start will also accelerate wear.

• Check the oil circuit (pressure, cleanliness, absence of carbon deposits in the galleries)
• Inspect the condition of the hoses and air intake before reassembly
• Prime the turbo with oil before the first start-up
• Avoid putting the engine under full load immediately after starting
