What your Mégane gains with a new, fully functional turbo

On a Renault Mégane fitted with a 1.5 dCi engine, the difference behind the wheel is noticeable from the very first miles when the turbo is working properly: throttle response is sharp from low revs, the engine no longer struggles to keep up with traffic, and in-gear acceleration in town and on the road feels natural again. By contrast, a worn turbo typically shows itself through a flat spot under acceleration, unusual exhaust smoke, or fuel consumption that creeps up for no obvious reason. Fitting a new turbo restores the original boost pressure and brings back the engine behaviour the Mégane had when it left the factory.

Compatibility with Mégane 1.5 dCi engines

This new turbo is compatible with reference 16359880029, intended for Renault Mégane models fitted with a 1.5 dCi 90 hp or 110 hp engine with a capacity of 1461 cm³. These diesel engines are found under engine codes K9K 636, K9K 656, K9K 648, K9K 846, K9K 836 and K9K 837, depending on the version and production phase of the Mégane. Before placing an order, we recommend checking the reference shown on the identification plate of your old turbo, or on the original invoice, to confirm an exact match with your vehicle.

Exchange and warranty for your Mégane

This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old unit is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. The return only takes place after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Mégane is never off the road while you wait for parts. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over up to 10 instalments to help manage your budget.

Fitting advice for the 1.5 dCi engine

The service life of a turbo on this type of engine depends heavily on the quality and frequency of engine oil changes — degraded oil accelerates wear on the bearings. A clogged air filter or an air intake that is not properly sealed can also allow particles to enter and damage the turbine. Before fitting the new turbo, it is advisable to check the condition of the hoses, the air intake and the oil circuit (feed and return lines) to prevent any contamination of the new unit. Priming the turbo with oil before restarting the engine is also recommended to ensure the bearings are lubricated immediately from the first start.
