Diagnosing a turbo fault on a Renault Scénic 1.9 dCi before any replacement

Before ordering a new turbo for your Renault Scénic fitted with the F9Q engine, it is essential to confirm that the turbocharger is actually at fault. A visual check of the shaft's axial and radial play, an inspection of the vane condition, a check of the oil pressure and an exhaust smoke test (blue smoke indicates an oil leak; black smoke indicates excessive fuel consumption) will help rule out other possible faults, such as a cracked intercooler pipe, a clogged EGR valve or a faulty pressure sensor. On this model, a sharp whistling noise under acceleration, a gradual loss of power or unusual exhaust smoke are symptoms commonly associated with turbo wear.

New turbo for Renault Scénic 1.9 dCi F9Q

This new turbo is compatible with reference 751768-5005S and has been designed to fit the Renault Scénic 1.9 dCi 102 hp and 105 hp, a 1870 cm³ diesel engine with engine codes F9Q 732, F9Q 733, F9Q 738 and F9Q 740. It restores the engine's air boost to bring back the original power and responsiveness, while also helping to keep fuel consumption in check.

Checking compatibility with your Scénic

Before placing an order, it is recommended that you check the reference printed on the data plate of your old turbo, as well as the engine code on the block, to confirm an exact match with this Renault Scénic model.

Exchange basis and warranty for this Scénic turbo

This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Renault Scénic is not left off the road. A 12-month parts warranty applies, subject to fitting being carried out by a professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.

Advice before fitting and start-up on the F9Q engine

On F9Q engines, the majority of turbo failures stem from a lubrication fault caused by unsuitable oil quality, missed oil changes or a clogged air filter. Before fitting the new turbo, check the oil circuit (hoses, return pipe), the cleanliness of the intercooler and the absence of any air leaks. On first start-up, prime the oil circuit before starting the engine, then allow it to idle for a few moments before putting it under any load, in order to protect the longevity of the new turbo.
