Diagnosing a turbo fault on a Volvo V60 before replacement
On a Volvo V60 fitted with a 2.0-litre Diesel engine, loss of power, blue or black exhaust smoke, an unusual whistling noise under acceleration, or an illuminated engine warning light should all prompt investigation before any turbocharger is replaced. A thorough diagnosis is essential: reading fault codes, checking axial and radial play on the turbine shaft, verifying there is no excessive play, visually inspecting the vanes for impact damage or abnormal wear, and checking the oil pressure reaching the turbo. Only once secondary causes have been ruled out — such as a split hose, a faulty pressure sensor, or a blocked wastegate — should turbo replacement be confirmed as necessary.
New turbo compatible with the Volvo V60 and reference 805156-5006S
This new turbo is compatible with reference 805156-5006S, intended for Volvo V60 models fitted with a 2.0-litre Diesel engine. The Volvo V60 2.0 d 163 bhp D5204T2, D5204T3, and D3 are among the engine variants covered, as is the D 5204 T7 version. Before ordering, it is recommended to check the reference marked on the old turbo or in the vehicle's technical documentation, as the D3 and D4 designations may correspond to different power outputs depending on the year of manufacture.

Exchange basis and warranty for this Volvo V60 turbo
This turbo is sold on an exchange basis: the old turbo must be returned, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. The return only takes place after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so the vehicle is not left off the road during the process. A 12-month parts warranty applies, provided fitting is carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Fitting advice for the V60 2.0 Diesel engine
Before fitting the new turbo, the lubrication circuit should be checked: using the correct grade of oil and having carried out a recent oil change will reduce the risk of premature failure. The oil feed and return hoses must be inspected, along with the air intake and air filter, which are often responsible for accelerated vane wear if blocked or dirty. The intercooler also deserves close attention, as a leak can disrupt air pressure and put the new turbo at risk. When starting the engine for the first time, it is advisable to prime the oil circuit before the initial start-up to ensure the bearings are immediately lubricated.
