Which new turbo for my Opel Meriva diesel or petrol?

All the turbos listed on this page are brand-new parts, sold on a direct-sale basis with no old unit to return. The right turbo depends above all on the engine code stamped on the block, as several engines with similar capacities take completely different references.

Four engine families, four distinct turbos

The 1.7 CDTI 100 hp (codes Z17DT, Z17DTH) and the 1.7 DTI / 1.7 CDTI 75-80 hp (code Y17DT) share the same engine capacity but do not use the same turbo: Z17DT and Z17DTH correspond to later evolutions of the block that resulted in distinct manufacturer references, whereas Y17DT designates the earlier generation. Mixing up these codes when ordering is the most common mistake with this 1.7 family.

The 1.6 CDTI 95 and 1.6 CDTI 110 (codes B16DTC, B16DTE, B16DTL, B16DTN) represent the most recent diesel engine fitted to the Meriva. Four codes exist for this capacity depending on power output and emissions standard: checking the final letter of the code is essential before placing any order. The 1.4 Turbo 140 hp and 1.4 Turbo 120 hp (codes A14NEL, A14NET, B14NEL) is the only turbocharged petrol engine fitted to the Meriva; power output varies by code, and the turbo references differ accordingly.

Causes of failure and key checks before replacement

On both the 1.7 and 1.6 CDTI blocks, progressive fouling of the oil circuit and deteriorating lubrication remain the main causes of CHRA and bearing failure. A blocked DPF or a clogged EGR circuit makes matters worse by forcing the turbo to operate outside its normal range. Common symptoms include blue or black exhaust smoke, a gradual loss of power, and a characteristic whistling noise under acceleration. On the 1.4 Turbo petrol, the seals and bearings are sensitive to the quality and frequency of oil changes. Addressing the root cause of the failure before fitting the new turbo is essential: a turbo fitted without flushing and purging the oil feed circuit will fail prematurely, regardless of the quality of the part.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

The turbos on this page are new. Each product page states the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Opel Meriva Turbo.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

No. The turbos on this page are new and sold as a straight sale: nothing to send back, your old turbo stays with you and there is one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Opel Meriva Turbo?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
