Opel's mechanical engineering changed generation in 1998, then again after 2012

Between 1998 and 2025, the Opel fleet went through two major technical shifts. The first concerns the petrol units: the Z12XE, Z18XE and Z18XER were fitted to the Corsa, Astra and Meriva until the mid-2000s, before giving way to the B12XHT / EB2ADT family on subsequent generations. The second concerns diesel: the 1.9 CDTi (A20DTJ and related codes) dominated the 2000s, while the 1.6 CDTi and 2.0 CDTi became the standard from 2012–2013 onwards, particularly on the Astra J/K, Insignia and Mokka. These two eras share neither gearbox nor engine architecture: the same engine capacity can correspond to entirely different parts depending on the year of first registration.

Vivaro and Movano: engine codes you must not mix up

The Vivaro alone accounts for a significant share of the range, with powertrains that evolved in several waves: F9Q, R9M, M9R and M9T followed one another between 2001 and 2019 and are not interchangeable. The codes G9U630, G9U730, G9U632, G9U650 relate to the Movano's 2.5 CDTi, with each suffix corresponding to a different power output or emissions standard. Identifying the correct part here requires cross-referencing the engine code stamped on the block with the year of manufacture — not just the engine capacity shown in the documentation.

Manual gearboxes, Easytronic and Tecshift: three families, three different logics

5- and 6-speed manual gearboxes make up the majority of the catalogue. The Easytronic and Tecshift automated manual gearboxes are available in reconditioned form, but are supplied without the actuator or electrohydraulic unit — that component is handled separately. Turbos, fitted to the 1.3 CDTi, 1.7 CDTi, 2.3 CDTi and 2.8 CDTi, are offered new or reconditioned depending on available references. The range covers the Astra, Corsa, Meriva, Zafira, Mokka, Insignia, Vivaro and Movano on an exchange basis or as a rebuild of the customer's own unit.
