Symptoms of a failing turbo on a Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT
On the Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Turbo, a turbo nearing the end of its life often makes itself known through a loss of power under acceleration, an unusual whistling noise on the intake side, a faint blue smoke from the exhaust indicating abnormal oil consumption, or an engine warning light accompanied by unstable boost pressure. These warning signs should not be ignored before the damage worsens and affects other components in the intake or lubrication circuit.
About the new turbo for the Subaru Legacy
This new turbo is compatible with the VF46 reference, also known under the manufacturer reference 14411-AA670. It is designed to fit the Subaru Legacy in its 2.5 GT Turbo petrol engine variant, with an engine capacity of 2458 cm3. It restores the original boost pressure and brings back the performance expected from this sporting flat-engine model.
Engine compatibility and essential checks
This turbo is intended for vehicles fitted with the turbocharged petrol engine, commonly identified under engine codes EJ25 or MD13 depending on the documentation. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended to check the exact reference printed on the old turbo or on the vehicle registration document, as designations may vary between Legacy versions.

Exchange and warranty
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so the vehicle is not left off the road. A 12-month parts warranty applies, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice before fitting on a Legacy 2.5 GT
Before installation, check the condition of the oil circuit, the intake hoses and air intake, as well as the intercooler and air filter, which are often responsible for premature turbo failure. A full oil change using a suitable quality oil is essential. On first start-up, the oil circuit must be primed to avoid the new turbo running dry. Driving gently for the first few kilometres is also recommended to maximise the longevity of the part.
