Signs of a worn turbo on the Fiat Ducato 3.0 Multijet
On the Fiat Ducato fitted with the F1CE0481D engine, a turbo nearing the end of its life often makes itself known through a noticeable loss of power under acceleration, particularly when loaded or climbing a gradient – demanding conditions that are typical for this van. Other warning signs to watch out for include an engine warning light on the dashboard, abnormal exhaust smoke (black or blue-tinged), an unusual whistling noise under acceleration, or increased fuel consumption. These symptoms generally point to turbocharger wear or a sealing fault at the gaskets or wastegate.

Exchange basis and warranty for this Ducato turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: the old turbo must be returned in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Ducato is never left off the road. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, provided fitting is carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice before and during fitting
Turbo failure is often caused by insufficient lubrication due to poor-quality oil or a neglected oil change, a clogged air filter allowing contaminants through, or a damaged intercooler disrupting the air intake. Aggressive driving – particularly revving the engine hard immediately after a cold start – also accelerates wear. Before fitting the new turbo, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses, and the cleanliness of the air intake. When starting up for the first time, prime the turbo with oil to ensure the bearings are lubricated immediately from the very first engine revolutions.
