Exchange basis and warranty on this Sprinter turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted to the Sprinter, so the vehicle is not off the road any longer than necessary. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Common symptoms and causes of turbo failure on the Sprinter OM602.980
On this 5-cylinder engine, which is frequently used under load, a loss of power, an unusual whistling noise or exhaust smoke can indicate premature turbo wear. The most common causes are insufficient lubrication, poor-quality engine oil or oil that has not been changed on time, a clogged air filter or a faulty intercooler. Appropriate driving habits – including allowing sufficient warm-up and cool-down time for the engine – also help to prolong the life of the turbocharger.
Fitting advice for the Sprinter
- Check the condition of the oil circuit and replace the filter before fitting
- Inspect the hoses and air intake for any leaks or blockages
- Prime the turbo with oil before the first start-up to ensure immediate lubrication
