Restore full power to your Transporter 2.5 TDI
On a Volkswagen Transporter used daily for carrying loads or passengers, a turbo in good condition makes an immediate difference to how the vehicle drives: throttle response returns from low revs, exhaust smoke disappears, and the engine regains its responsiveness even under full load – on hills or when overtaking. Conversely, a worn turbo shows itself through a noticeable loss of power, an unusual whistling noise or abnormal oil consumption – all signs that compromise the working life of this van.
Compatibility with the Transporter and its 2.5 TDI engines
This new turbo is compatible with reference 720931-5005S and fits the Volkswagen Transporter with 2.5 TDI engines, covering engine codes AXE, BPC and BLJ. Before ordering, it is essential to check the reference marked on the old turbo or on the engine plate, as several power variants may have been fitted to this model.

Exchange and warranty for this turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, and it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so the Transporter is never left off the road. The part is covered by a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Fitting advice for this 2.5 TDI engine
Before fitting, check the oil circuit, hoses and air intake to rule out any contamination of the new turbo. The most common causes of failure on these engines are insufficient lubrication, poor-quality oil or missed oil changes, a clogged air filter or a damaged intercooler. After installation, remember to prime the turbo with oil before the first start-up to protect its service life.
