Reconditioned Citroën C4 1.6 HDi Gearbox – Reference 20DR28
This reconditioned gearbox for the Citroën C4 1.6 HDi (1560 cm³) carries reference 20DR28 and is compatible with engine codes 9HX, 9HY, 9HZ, 9HP and 9HR. It is a BMP6 automated manual gearbox – a unit that sees heavy use on this model in both urban and road driving. Over time, the internal mechanical components wear, resulting in rougher gear changes and unusual noises from the transmission.
Signs that your BMP6 gearbox needs replacing
- Pronounced juddering when changing gear, even from cold
- Crunching or a dull thud when the clutch engages
- Gears jumping out on their own or refusing to engage
- Gearbox warning light illuminated on the dashboard
- Persistent difficulty selecting reverse
- Jerking or shuddering felt while driving at a steady speed
Compatibility
Reference 20DR28 is designed for Citroën C4 models fitted with the 9HX, 9HY, 9HZ, 9HP and 9HR engine codes in 1.6 HDi with a capacity of 1560 cm³. These codes cover several variants of the diesel unit fitted to this model; please check the engine code shown on your V5C (registration document) before placing your order to confirm that the 20DR28 is the correct gearbox for your vehicle.
Reconditioned gearbox: what the process involves
Reconditioning this gearbox follows a rigorous process: complete strip-down, cleaning and inspection of every component, replacement of all wear items such as gears, synchromesh rings, bearings and seals, followed by reassembly to manufacturer tolerances and bench testing before dispatch. This gearbox is sold without the actuator control unit: the actuator is neither reconditioned nor tested and remains the vehicle's original unit, to be reused by the customer.
Exchange basis: the old unit is not collected before delivery
This gearbox, rebuilt to 0 km, is dispatched to your workshop first, so the vehicle is never left off the road and the garage is never without a part. The old gearbox, with its casing intact, is only collected after the 20DR28 has been delivered and fitted. Return of the old unit is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
Warranty and payment
This reconditioned gearbox, reference 20DR28, is covered by a 24-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment for this gearbox can be spread over multiple instalments – pay in up to 10 instalments.
