Which gearbox or turbo do you need for an Abarth 500 or Grande Punto between 2007 and 2015?

The answer depends on the exact engine code, not just the engine capacity: all these Abarth models are fitted with a 1.4, but compatible parts vary by version. In this collection you will find reconditioned gearboxes and new turbos covering both models in the range, in 5- or 6-speed manual, MTA automated manual gearbox, and available on an exchange basis or as a rebuild of your own unit.

One 1.4, several blocks: identification is critical

The 1.4 T-Jet comes in at least three distinct engine codes within this collection: 198A1000, 312A1000 and 312B4000 appear under the 1.4 T-Jet engine; the 198 A1.000 corresponds to the 1.4 T-Jet 16V 155, and the 199 A8.000 to the 1.4 T-Jet 16V Turbo. These codes are not interchangeable and do not give access to the same parts: a gearbox suited to the 312A1000 is not necessarily compatible with the 199 A8.000. Always check the code stamped on your block before making a selection.

Manual, MTA and turbo: what the Abarth collection covers

The seven gearboxes in the catalogue are split between 5-speed manuals, 6-speed manuals and MTA (actuator-operated automated manual) gearboxes. The MTA, found notably on the 500 Abarth, is sold without its actuator: the electrohydraulic actuator is a separate component that must be dealt with independently. The two turbos listed are offered as new units, which sets them apart from the gearboxes available on an exchange basis. The Grande Punto Abarth, less well represented with two references, shares certain engine codes with the 500 but not all: check the model and year (2007 to 2015) in addition to the block code.
