Which turbo for the Peugeot 5008, depending on its generation and engine?

The 5008 went through two very distinct generations, each bringing a complete overhaul of the engine range. The 1.6 HDi 115 of the early years — engine codes 9HC, BHX, BHZ — gave way to the 1.5 BlueHDi 130/131 (engine codes DV5RC, YHZ) on the 5008 II. These two diesel engines share no turbo whatsoever: references, geometry and architecture all differ. On the petrol side, the 1.6 THP in 150, 163 and 165 hp variants (engine code EP6FDT) coexisted with the 1.2 THP 131, which was itself gradually replaced by the 1.2 PureTech 131. These two 3-cylinder engines share certain engine codes — HNS and HNY appear in both families — but their turbos remain specific to each engine variant. Checking the engine code stamped on the block is therefore essential before placing any order.

Symptoms and causes to be aware of before replacing the turbo

On diesel engines, turbo failure typically presents as a gradual loss of power, an unusual whistling noise, or blue smoke from the exhaust. The 1.6 HDi and 1.5 BlueHDi are susceptible to clogging of the EGR-FAP circuit and to degraded lubrication. On THP and PureTech petrol engines, the bearings and CHRA sealing are the most well-documented weak points, often made worse by excessively long oil change intervals or poor-quality oil. In every case, addressing the root cause of the failure — oil circuit, EGR, FAP, upstream air intake — is essential before fitting a new turbo; failing to do so will result in the new part being damaged all over again.

All turbos listed here are new parts

All turbos referenced for the Peugeot 5008 on this page are new parts, sold with no old unit to return. Each reference corresponds to a specific engine variant and engine code; the OEM and equivalent reference examples available cover the five engine variants in this guide, but the exact match depends on the engine code of your vehicle. If you are unsure between several similar codes — particularly on the 1.2 THP and PureTech — the original reference number stamped on the turbo currently fitted remains the most reliable criterion.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

The turbos on this page are new. Each product page states the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Peugeot 5008 Turbo.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

No. The turbos on this page are new and sold as a straight sale: nothing to send back, your old turbo stays with you and there is one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Peugeot 5008 Turbo?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
