9 engine variants, all with a brand-new turbo: how to find the right one for the 308

All turbos in this collection are brand-new parts only — no reconditioned units, nothing to return. This direct-sale approach applies to all 9 engine variants listed, whether diesel (1.5 BlueHDi, 1.6 HDi/BlueHDi or 2.0 BlueHDi) or petrol (THP and PureTech). Rebuilding your own turbo is not offered here: it can make sense for a rare or hard-to-source part, but the availability of new units makes that approach less relevant for the 308, whose manufacturer references are still well covered.

Finding the correct reference using the engine code

The 308 spans several generations and a wide range of engine codes: the 1.5 BlueHDi covers codes DV5RCF, DV5RD and DV5RE; the 1.6 HDi/BlueHDi 100 covers codes BHY and DV6FD; the 1.6 BlueHDi 120 / HDi 120 / 2.0 BlueHDi 150 group covers codes 9HC, 9HD, BHX, BHZ and DV6FC. On the petrol side, the 1.6 THP comes in several power outputs with distinct codes: EP6CDT and EP6DT for the 150 hp first version, 5GY (EP6FDTM) and 5GZ (EP6FDT) for the 150/156/163/165 hp versions, EP6CDTX for the 1.6 GTi 200. The PureTech 110/130 carry codes HNP, HNS, HNV, HNY and HNZ, and the 1.2 THP 130/131 carries code EB2DTS. The same quoted power output can correspond to different turbo references depending on the year or generation: the engine code stamped on the block is the only reliable way to identify the correct part.

Symptoms and root causes to address before replacement

On the 308's diesel engines, variable-geometry turbos are prone to fouling of the distributor vanes, typically caused by degraded oil or a clogged EGR/DPF circuit. On THP and PureTech engines, lubrication failure at start-up and air leaks on the intake hoses are common causes of CHRA failure. Whistling, persistent blue smoke or the engine dropping into limp mode are the usual warning signs. Fitting a new turbo without identifying and fixing the underlying cause is never enough: the service life of the part depends directly on the condition of the oil circuit and the intake system.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

The turbos on this page are new. Each product page states the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Peugeot 308 Turbo.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

No. The turbos on this page are new and sold as a straight sale: nothing to send back, your old turbo stays with you and there is one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Peugeot 308 Turbo?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
