1.9 TDI 100 hp or 1.9 TDI 100: two similar engines, two different turbos on the Ibiza?

Yes, and it's one of the most common pitfalls with this model. The 1.9 TDI 100 hp and the 1.9 TDI 100 share the same engine capacity and identical power output, but their engine codes differ — AXR, ATD, BNV, BWB on one side, ARL on the other — and their turbos are not the same. The manufacturer's reference stamped on the turbo housing, cross-checked against the engine code, is the only reliable way to avoid an ordering mistake. The same applies to the 1.9 TDI 105 (codes BLS, BMT) and the 1.9 TDI 150 hp (code BRL), whose variable-geometry units differ despite sharing a common engine family.

Diesel: from the naturally aspirated 1.9 TD to the 1.9 TDI 160 hp — very distinct architectures

The 1.9 TD 75 hp (code AAZ) is a fixed-geometry unit with a wastegate and no electronic vane management: its replacement logic is straightforward. At the other end of the range, the 1.9 TDI 150 hp and 1.9 TDI 160 hp feature a variable-geometry turbine with a pneumatic or electric actuator. Oil circuit contamination and bearing wear are the most well-documented causes of failure on these versions; persistent whistling or smoke under acceleration should prompt inspection of the seals and CHRA before any replacement is carried out. The 1.4 TDI (codes AMF, BAY, BHC, BMS, BNM) is a compact variable-geometry unit whose actuator is particularly sensitive to degraded oil residue.

Petrol TSI: 1.2 and 1.4 — manufacturer references that must not be swapped

The 1.2 TSI is available in 86 and 105 hp variants with distinct engine codes — CBZA, CBZB, CBZC — and turbo references specific to each variant (families 03F145701 for the 1.2, 04E145 for the 1.4). The 1.4 TSI 140 and 150 hp (codes CPTA, CHPA, CZEA, CZDA, CHPB, CUKB) uses a fixed-geometry turbo with an integrated wastegate; the V and X suffixes on references indicate approved equivalents, not different parts. All petrol and diesel turbos in this collection are sold new, with the exception of the 1.9 TDI 150 hp, which is available in reconditioned form. Addressing the root cause — oil circuit, EGR, DPF — remains essential before fitting, regardless of the version.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

It depends on the reference: each product page states whether the turbo is new (straight sale, nothing to send back) or reconditioned (exchange basis), together with the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your SEAT Ibiza Turbo.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

Only for a reconditioned turbo, sold on an exchange basis: you return your old turbo after the new one has been delivered and fitted, and we arrange the collection. A new turbo is a straight sale: nothing to send back, one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my SEAT Ibiza Turbo?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
