On the Ducato 2.0 JTD/HDi, premature turbo failure is most commonly caused by insufficient lubrication, poor-quality engine oil, or oil change intervals that have not been observed. A clogged air filter or a damaged intercooler also degrades air intake and accelerates wear on the turbine bearings. Before fitting, check the oil circuit (feed and return hoses), the condition of the boost hoses, and the cleanliness of the air intake. On first start-up, prime the turbo with oil to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings and prevent any dry running.
