Why does the turbo on the Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue fail?
On the Ford Transit fitted with the 2.0 EcoBlue Diesel engine, the turbocharger is put under particularly heavy strain due to intensive commercial use: heavy loads, frequent stop-start urban driving followed by hard acceleration on A-roads and motorways. These repeated thermal cycles weaken the variable geometry and the turbo's bearings. Inadequate lubrication caused by delayed oil changes, the wrong grade of oil, or a clogged oil filter accelerates bearing wear. A blocked air filter or a cracked intercooler also disrupts intake pressure and can cause the turbine to overheat prematurely.
Compatibility of the turbo for your Ford Transit
This new turbo is compatible with reference 838417-5006S, intended for the 2.0 EcoBlue Diesel engines of the Ford Transit, with an engine capacity of 1995 cm³. Before placing any order, we strongly recommend checking the reference number on your old turbo as well as the engine code on the manufacturer's plate, to ensure perfect compatibility with your van.
Exchange and warranty
This new turbo for the Ford Transit is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your van is not left off the road. A 12-month parts warranty applies, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice before fitting on your Transit
Before installation, check the condition of the oil circuit (hoses, feed and return lines), as carbon deposits or a leak can damage the new turbo within the first few kilometres. Also inspect the air intake and intercooler for any cracks or foreign bodies. When starting up for the first time, prime the turbo with oil before starting the engine, then let it idle for a few moments to ensure the bearings are properly lubricated before putting it under load.
