Diagnose the turbo before any replacement on your Ford Transit
Before ordering a new turbo for your Ford Transit, it is essential to confirm that the turbocharger is actually at fault. A high-pitched whistle under acceleration, a gradual loss of power, exhaust smoke or an illuminated engine warning light can equally be caused by a cracked intercooler hose, a clogged EGR valve or a blocked air filter. An electronic diagnostic using a scan tool will read fault codes related to boost pressure, while a visual check of turbo shaft play, oil traces in the intake or a punctured intercooler will confirm or rule out internal turbo failure before any part is replaced.
Compatibility of the new turbo with the Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue
This new turbo is compatible with reference 850841-5010S, intended for Ford Transit vehicles fitted with the 2.0 EcoBlue engines producing 130 and 170 hp. These units, identified in particular by engine codes BKRA, BKRB, BKHA, BLRA, BLRB and BLHA, are fitted to the panel van, chassis-cab and minibus versions of the Transit V363. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the reference printed on the old turbo or on the vehicle's engine plate to ensure a perfect match with your specific unit.
Exchange and warranty for this Ford Transit turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so that your Transit is not off the road any longer than necessary. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Fitting advice for the Transit 2.0 EcoBlue turbo
On this engine, insufficient lubrication or poor-quality oil is one of the main causes of premature failure of the variable-geometry turbo: follow the oil change intervals and the recommended oil specification to the letter. Before fitting, check the condition of the oil circuit, the cleanliness of the feed and return hoses, and the condition of the air intake and air filter. Also check the intercooler, which is often a source of pressure loss if a leak is present. When starting up for the first time, prime the new turbo with oil before the initial engine start to ensure the bearings are lubricated immediately.
