What changes behind the wheel of your Cherokee 2.8 CRD with a new turbo
From the very first miles, the difference is immediately noticeable: throttle response returns with confidence from low revs, torque comes back without hesitation or suspicious whistling, and the 4x4 regains all its vigour for towing or tackling difficult terrain. Fitting a new turbo to your Cherokee also puts an end to blue or black exhaust smoke, jerky acceleration and the power loss that makes daily driving a chore in a vehicle built for off-road use.
Compatibility with Cherokee 2.8 CRD engines
This new turbo, compatible with reference 763360-5001S, fits Jeep Cherokee models powered by the 2.8 CRD diesel engine of 2776 cm³, with engine codes ENR and ENS. Before placing an order, always check the reference printed on the plate or housing of your old turbo to confirm an exact match with your vehicle.

Exchange and warranty for this Cherokee turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Cherokee is never left off the road. A 12-month parts warranty applies, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Common causes of failure on the 2.8 CRD engine
On this ENR/ENS unit, the majority of turbo failures stem from a lubrication fault: incorrect oil grade, missed oil changes or a clogged oil filter can all disrupt the flow of oil to the turbocharger. A blocked air filter or a cracked intercooler also accelerate premature wear, as does driving that involves pushing the revs hard before the oil has reached its operating temperature.
Fitting advice for the turbo
Before installation, carefully inspect the oil circuit, the intake hoses and the air intake to rule out any contamination or leaks. When starting the engine for the first time, prime the turbo with oil to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings and prevent any dry running on first start-up.
