Which reconditioned mechanical parts are available for my Jeep, and how do I make sure I order the right reference?

The answer depends first and foremost on the model and engine: the range covers the Wrangler, Cherokee, Compass, Renegade and Patriot, with gearboxes, turbos, a transfer case and a bare engine, available on an exchange basis or as a rebuild of the customer's own unit. What makes identification tricky is that Jeep has used engines from very different origins — American blocks on older Wranglers, Fiat-FCA powertrains on more recent generations — meaning engine capacity alone is not enough to confirm compatibility.

Wrangler and Cherokee: two distinct mechanical worlds

The Wrangler accounts for the majority of available references. Petrol 4.0 versions carry the engine codes AMC 242 or PowerTech 4.0, while the 2.5 uses the code AMC 150 (VIN P). The 2.8 CRD diesel comes in 150 hp and 163 hp versions, both under the codes ENR and ENS — the same codes also appear on the Cherokee 2.8 CRD, which makes it essential to confirm the exact model before placing any order. The Cherokee 2.0 CRD uses the codes BYL or ECE, and the 2.2 CRD uses the code EBV. These codes are stamped on the block or the bell housing and remain the only reliable way to confirm compatibility.

Compass, Renegade and FCA powertrains: watch out for MultiAir and Multijet variants

On the more recent generations (Compass, Renegade, Patriot), the mechanicals come from the FCA platform. The 1.4 MultiAir 140 hp has the greatest number of distinct engine codes — 198 A7.000, 312 A1.000, 552 63 624, 955 A2.000, 955 A7.000, EAM — depending on the year of production and the market, making it absolutely essential to check the engine code. The 1.6 Multijet comes in 105 hp and 120 hp versions under the code EJJ, and one 1.6 Multijet version carries the engine reference 55260384. The Compass and Renegade also receive the 2.0 T-GDI (up to 272 hp) under the code GME-T4. The available gearboxes are 5- or 6-speed manuals; the turbos cover several of these diesel and petrol engines and represent six references in the range.
