What changes behind the wheel of a Subaru Impreza WRX with a new turbo
On a Subaru Impreza WRX fitted with the 2.0 Turbo EJ20 engine, low-rev responsiveness and a clean power delivery depend directly on the condition of the turbocharger. With a new turbo compatible with reference VF45, boost pressure returns to normal, throttle response becomes sharp again, and any abnormal whistling or puff of smoke under acceleration disappears. The driver regains the linear thrust that is characteristic of this turbocharged engine, with no hesitation or gradual power loss.

This new turbo is compatible with the 2.0 Turbo EJ20 engine fitted to the Subaru Impreza WRX. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the exact reference marked on the old turbo or on the vehicle's identification plate, as certain housing or connection variants may differ depending on the version of the model.

Exchange and warranty
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with the Terms and Conditions, the old turbo must be returned, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so that your vehicle is not left off the road. It comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a professional. Payment can be spread over up to 10 instalments.
Fitting and maintenance advice
On a turbocharged EJ20 engine, premature turbo failure is most often caused by a lubrication fault: poor-quality oil, missed oil changes, or a clogged oil filter all reduce pressure at the central bearing. A dirty air filter or a damaged intercooler can also lead to fouling and overheating of the turbo. Before fitting the new turbo, check the oil circuit, clean or replace the intake hoses, and make sure there are no foreign bodies in the air intake. Pre-lubricating the turbo with oil before the first start-up prevents dry running, which can damage the bearing.
