Symptoms of a failing turbo on a Mercedes Classe B
On a Mercedes Classe B fitted with the 1.6 petrol engine, a turbocharger that is nearing the end of its life will often make itself known through a loss of power under acceleration, an unusual whistling noise from under the bonnet, abnormal exhaust smoke (blue or black depending on the case), or an engine warning light on the dashboard. Excessive oil consumption or hesitation when the engine is building revs are also warning signs not to be ignored, as they frequently precede a complete turbo failure.

This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but this is only requested after delivery and fitting of the new part, so your Classe B is not left off the road unnecessarily. The turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice before and during fitting
On an M 270.910 engine, the longevity of the turbo depends greatly on the quality and frequency of engine oil changes, as well as the condition of the air filter and intercooler. Before fitting the new turbo, carefully check the oil circuit (feed and return lines), the condition of the hoses, and the cleanliness of the air intake to avoid any contamination. When starting the engine for the first time, make sure to prime the turbo with oil before the initial start-up to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings. Gentle driving during the first few kilometres, without excessive demands on the engine, will also help the new component build up pressure correctly.
