Restore the full power of your Opel Astra 1.7 CDTI

Behind the wheel of an Opel Astra fitted with the 1.7 CDTI, a turbo in good condition delivers immediate, crisp acceleration, a smooth power build-up and no smoke under throttle. When boost pressure drops, the engine loses punch at low revs, the car feels restricted and diesel consumption rises noticeably. Fitting a new turbo compatible with reference VIFC restores the driving feel that this diesel engine is capable of delivering in the Astra.

Compatibility with Astra 1.7 CDTI engines

This new turbo is compatible with reference VIFC as fitted to the Opel Astra with the 1.7 CDTI 110 hp and 1.7 CDTI 125 hp engines, with an engine capacity of 1686 cm³. The engine codes covered are A 17 DTJ, A 17 DTR, Z 17 DTJ, Z 17 DTR, Z 17 DTH and Z 17 DT. Before placing an order, we recommend checking the exact reference printed on your old turbo or on the engine plate, as some engine variants share closely related components.

Exchange and warranty for your Astra

This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of your old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Astra is not left off the road during the process. Advice before fitting on the 1.7 CDTI

On this diesel engine, turbo failure is most commonly caused by insufficient lubrication due to incorrect oil grade or missed oil changes, a clogged air filter, or an intercooler leak allowing contaminants to enter. Before fitting the new turbo, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses and the cleanliness of the air intake to prevent premature failure. When starting up, prime the turbo with oil before the first engine start, then drive gently for the first few kilometres to allow the turbo to bed in.
