Signs that your DSG 7 gearbox needs replacing

On an Ibiza fitted with this dual-clutch gearbox, several warning signs should alert the driver:

• juddering or pronounced jolts during gear changes;
• slipping felt under acceleration, similar to clutch slip;
• gearbox warning light illuminated on the dashboard;
• metallic noise or grinding in park or neutral;
• difficult or delayed gear engagement, particularly when cold.

Exchange basis: a gearbox rebuilt to 0 km, delivered without delay

Under this exchange arrangement, the rebuilt gearbox is dispatched first, before the old unit is collected. The garage is therefore never left without a gearbox and the vehicle is off the road for as short a time as possible. The old gearbox, with its casing intact, is only collected after the MGQ unit has been delivered and fitted. Return of the old unit is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

This gearbox is sold without the mechatronic unit: it is neither supplied nor included in the sale, it is neither reconditioned nor tested, and remains the vehicle's original unit, to be reused by the customer. The dual-clutch assembly, however, is included and forms part of the reconditioning: gears, synchros, bearings and seals are inspected and replaced as wear dictates, before being reassembled to manufacturer tolerances and bench-tested.
