The i30's turbo changed four times across its engine codes, not just with its engine capacity

The i30 spans several distinct generations, each of which introduced new turbo references — including at the same engine capacity. The 1.6 CRDi, the model's core engine, has not always used the same turbo: depending on the power output chosen (90, 110, 116 or 128 hp) and the associated engine code (D4FB or D4EA), the references differ. Relying on engine capacity alone risks ordering the wrong part.

Diesel: four power outputs in the 1.6, and a 2.0 that must not be confused with it

The 1.6 CRDi is available in 90, 110, 116 and 128 hp — each variant corresponds to a specific reference (including 775274-5002S, 282012A700, 757886-5008S). The 2.0 CRDi (136 or 140 hp, code D4EA, reference 766111-5001S) is an entirely different architecture — larger in size and not interchangeable with the 1.6 turbos. Both diesel families use variable-geometry technology, which makes them sensitive to vane fouling and vane play when lubrication is insufficient.

Petrol: the 1.0 T-GDI, a small engine that needs close attention

The 1.0 T-GDI 120 hp (codes G3LC / G3LE / G3LF, reference 892599-5001S) is the only turbocharged petrol engine in the range. Its wastegate design and small oil volume mean that the quality and regularity of oil changes directly determine the service life of the CHRA. Any carbon deposit in the oil feed can damage the bearings. On both petrol and diesel engines, it is essential to identify and rectify the root cause of the failure — air leaks, a degraded oil circuit, fouling — before any replacement is carried out, regardless of the reference involved.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

The turbos on this page are new. Each product page states the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Hyundai i30 Turbo.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

No. The turbos on this page are new and sold as a straight sale: nothing to send back, your old turbo stays with you and there is one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Hyundai i30 Turbo?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
