Not sure you've found the right part?
A new turbo designed for the real-world use of your Renault Mégane 1.9 dCi
The Renault Mégane fitted with the 1.9 dCi 130/131 hp engine is frequently used on mixed journeys, alternating short urban runs with motorway stretches, sometimes carrying several passengers or a loaded boot. This constant variation in engine load subjects the turbocharger to repeated boost pressure cycles, placing considerable strain on the turbine shaft bearings and lubrication system. A new turbo compatible with reference 774193-5004S restores the original boost pressure and eliminates the power loss felt during overtaking or under heavy load.
Compatibility with Mégane engines
This new turbo is compatible with Renault Mégane models fitted with the 1.9 dCi (F9Q) engine — a diesel unit producing 130 hp / 300 Nm — corresponding to engine codes F9Q870 and F9Q872. Before placing an order, please check the reference shown on the identification plate or the body of your old turbo to confirm it is a perfect match for your vehicle.
Exchange basis and warranty on this Mégane turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Mégane is never left off the road unnecessarily. A 12-month parts warranty applies, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Causes of failure and points to check before fitting
On the F9Q engine, premature turbo failure is most commonly caused by inadequate lubrication: incorrect oil grade, missed oil changes, or an oil filter that does not meet manufacturer specifications. A clogged air filter or a damaged intercooler can also disrupt turbocharger operation. Before fitting, it is recommended that you check the oil circuit (feed and return hoses), inspect the air intake, and prime the turbo with oil before the first start-up to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings.
Maintenance tips to protect this turbo on your Mégane
- Observe oil change intervals and use oil that meets the F9Q engine specifications
- Regularly check the condition of the air filter and intercooler
- Drive progressively, particularly when building revs after a cold start
- Check for oil leaks or any abnormal whistling noise
