A new turbo designed for the Golf 2.0 TDI

The Volkswagen Golf in 2.0 TDI form is often chosen for a wide variety of journeys, from everyday urban driving to long runs on A-roads and motorways. This versatility places considerable demands on the turbocharger, particularly during repeated hard acceleration, engine shut-off after sustained high load, or when towing or carrying a heavy load. Over time, these thermal and mechanical stresses can weaken the bearings, seals or variable geometry of the turbo, especially if the oil circuit has not been maintained diligently.

Compatibility of the new turbo with the Golf 2.0 TDI

This new turbo is compatible with the main reference 04L253019Q, used on the Volkswagen Golf fitted with the 2.0 TDI engine, engine codes CRBC and CRLB. Before placing an order, we strongly recommend checking the reference printed on the old turbo or on the vehicle's registration document to confirm an exact match with your engine.

Exchange basis and warranty on this new turbo

This new turbo for the Golf 2.0 TDI is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. The old unit is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your vehicle is not left off the road. The turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, up to 10 instalments.

Advice before and after fitting

On a 2.0 TDI engine, the most common causes of turbo failure are insufficient lubrication, poor-quality oil or missed oil changes, a clogged air filter, or a damaged intercooler. Before fitting, it is advisable to check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses and the air intake to rule out any contamination of the new turbo. When starting the engine for the first time, priming the turbo with oil is recommended to ensure the bearings are lubricated immediately from the very first revs.
